No Start, Not CMP!

Hi- I've got a '96 5sp PSD with 250K. Trucks been running fine for the last 25K. Lately though it will stumble or quit after a few seconds on a cold start. After another glow cycle it will start right up. Thought it might be the CMP, but no code was set. Glow plugs and relay are relatively new. This morning it simply won't start - just crank. Not the weather, it's 55 deg. Since no RPM's are registering on the tach when cranking I replaced the CMP with a new one and it still won't start (tach still does not register rpm's). Although now I am getting a code 0603 (Internal Ctrl Mod KAM Error). Any suggestions?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank You

The KAM error is generated by the PCM. You might be able to clear it by disconnecting the batteries for 15 minutes. This will in effect reset the PCM. If this doesn't clear the problem.....it's time to see the stealer for a diag. and possibly a new PCM.

Hmmm. All the fuses good? I realize that you are able to read codes, but you never know.

I figured it out. Had nothing to do with the code 0603. I cleared the code and it has not returned. The problem was/is the HPOP reservoir is empty. Engine oil level is fine, but the hpop must have drained while it sat a couple days. I'm in the middle (waiting for parts) of replacing the check valve just behind the reservoir in the valley. Trying to angle into that bolt is much harder then it looks like it should be. I've got the bolt, spring and steel ball out, but how do you get the ball seat out? Does it come out? I can't really see straight down in there.

Thanks for your help.
