2002 Guages
2002 Guages
Just Stepped Up To A 2002 Crewcab 4x4 From A Super Cab 2wd 2000. The 2000 Had No Tranny Temp Guage So I Installed The Requisit A Pillar 3 Guage Combo. Now I Get In My 2002 And Stare At A Tranny Temp Guage Built Into Instrument Panel. Is The Ford Tranny Temp Guage Worth A Damn Or Should I Just Install A New Guage On The Pillar?
I've read that it is really an analog idiot light......I'd stick with the real deal. Once that needle on the dash pegs.....it's probably too late. At least that's how I feel about it. Is there any temp marks on it? How do you know when she's getting close to 200?
FLASH, here is a good comparison of the factory and aftermarket.

i dunno if it is any good or not, but i doubt it is... the tranny guage on my 02 psd NEVER moves once it gets up to "normal" temp. i have towed a 10k 5ver in some mild heat, and it still DID NOT MOVE.... you can't tell me i didn't have some elevated tranny temps that day... so i say the guage is nothing more than a glorified IDIOT LIGHT..! By the time the thing moves, your tranny is probably cooked already... Someone let me know if I'm wrong on this one... Guages are going on my rig as soon as i can afford em...! I hate paying Uncle Sam...! he doesn't leave me any money for new mods...!
Here is a good test.
