Rear Washer Leak

I have a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer that just started leaking washer fluid out of the rear wiper nozzle. It only does it when it is the car is running. I am thinking it may be the pump or maybe switch. Has anyone had this problem?

I've not had the problem on mine but I would bet it is a problem with the nozzle or the line feeding it. Check for cracks. Not sure the pump would be the problem but you never know.

I was considering that also, maybe thinking that if there was a hole or something in the end of the line near the nozzle that it may be acting as a siphon.

Hose is cheap and easy to replace. See if that does the trick.

Everything looks fine. Can someone look at thier rear washer and see if the nozzle squirts out three holes, two up and one down? I don't remember it shooting over the car before as it does now.
Thank you,
bdp

Is there some sort of check valve in the system that may be defective?

I don't know, the diagram shows a relay I think. Something is allowing the fluid to go through the line when the key is on.

Something is causing the pump to run. Check to see if a relay controls the pump and replace it or change it with another relay then replace it. You could also have a short in the wiring.
