changing my HPOP and have a ?

I am swapping out the HPOP on my 2000, and was wondering if it is alright to let the hoses swivel when I remove them, or do they come apart? I thought I read somewhere to not tlet them swivel. Thanks, Jesse

Jesse, when you say swivel; do you mean hang or dangle down on their own weight? If you are....then your right in not wanting to do that. Due to the high pressure that they carry. It's probably better not to stress them very much. I'd take duct tape and tape them back out of your way but not crimp them or move them around much. Just kinda let them lay natually as they are when installed.

What I need to know is if I can turn the fitting out without disconnecting the lines, They just push together, but I think It takes a special tool to get them apart, and I dont have it.

Hi Jesse

Those quick connects usually have "O" rings in them. They could break and or get chaffed if there is too much movement done to them once they have set for awhile. I would suggest just moving them back far enough to let you get the changeout done. But don't move them around alot.

Can't you just disconnect them with the quick connects and set them on the bench out of harm's way? Maybe replace the o-rings while they're out?

Your right Quick.
Jesse
The set of release tools don't cost much. They are usually made of plastic. And a set has all of the four different sizes. They aren't very hard to use once you figure out which size for which connector. I got mine from O'Reilly's.....but just about all the major auto parts stores have them. That way you won't have to worry about them.

You don't need the "special tool". You can get a set of Ford A/C disconnect tools (the plastic ones) at the discount auto parts stores for about $10. Once the disconnects are off you can get at the fittings with a deep socket...makes it a lot easier.
