Jesse, when you say swivel; do you mean hang or dangle down on their own weight? If you are....then your right in not wanting to do that. Due to the high pressure that they carry. It's probably better not to stress them very much. I'd take duct tape and tape them back out of your way but not crimp them or move them around much. Just kinda let them lay natually as they are when installed.

The set of release tools don't cost much. They are usually made of plastic. And a set has all of the four different sizes. They aren't very hard to use once you figure out which size for which connector. I got mine from O'Reilly's.....but just about all the major auto parts stores have them. That way you won't have to worry about them.
