Buy your way out of guilt over truck emissions?

An interesting article in the paper today, link is below.

Let me state that I don't subscribe to this concept, just presenting it for discussion!

A professor at Wharton School (Univ of Pennsylvania), who is the proud owner of an F-150, has developed a organization that offers "memberships" to TerraPass, where those driving petroleum-powered vehicles can "subscribe" and in turn, contribute money to alternate energy sources (such as wind, hydro, etc) to relieve their "guilt" over tailpipe emissions.

TerraPass is also a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange, where industrial firms buy and sell emissions "credits" to meet the Kyoto Protocol (the U.S. is not a particpant in this anti-global-warming agreement).

So, if you want to do your penance to overcome your "guilt" from owning one of these fine machines, there finally is a way. And they even take Mastercard!

Here's the link to the story: http://go.philly.com/terrapass (You may need to do a quick registration to view)

Or, scope out TerraPass at: www.terrapass.com

AGAIN, I'M ONLY PRESENTING THIS FOR DISCUSSION!!

Tailpipe emissions will cease to be an issue when we all run out of oil.

This coincides with my previous post. Citizens concerned with co2 levels? Still if you buy this component it probably wont insure a passing result at the emission test. I believe our freedom of choice is being attacked. When are we as a people are going to say enough is enough. FACT: When they took lead out of the gasoline smog reduced drastically. Why do we have to buy more components to keep our emissions clean. I believe and know this greenhouse gas flak is small group of people to slow down commerce and capitalism. Its a form of communism. I like clean air and water too But enough is enough.. Where are they going to stop at. Man can not go on living without leaving some sort of waste product. Next thing they will want to do is strap a converter to our butts.
