Thumbs up Oil pan clearance with 4.125 stroke

Hello boys n gals for those of you that are running longer than 3.98 stroke... what are you using for an oil pan. I was looking around for a high capacity oil pan that I'll be using with a 430 cubic inch stroker kit. The stroker is 4.125 stroke, but the pans I've found clear up to 3.98.

Ps. I have a 360 converting to 430 stroker

Thanx for you help

I cant help much on the oil pan, but I am curious as to what the rest of your build is. Rods, pistons, cam, heads, intake, all that.

I do know that one of the common oil pans to run is the FT full sump oil pan. It's found on 330, 361, and 391 engines in larger trucks. I'm SURE that would clear any crank you could possibly stuff in there.

I have no issues. SCAT 4.125" stroker crank, 428 block, and I'm running the Ford Motorsports windage tray.

well, at leats no issues releted to pan clerance. I was running a stcok FE truck pna, but now have an FT pan (about 10 quarts).

Allright but I was wondering if the 428 block offers a little more room on the bottom than my 390 block? if not where did you get your pan... sounds good to me.

Thanx

The FE blocks are pretty much all the same. I don't think the minor differences between the castings will effect clearance for the 4.125 or even the 4.25 stroke.

As for the FT pan, watch eBay. That's where I snagged mine.

One thing about getting the full sump FT pan... Try to get the oil pickup tube that goes with that style of pan, you could have one made but it would be more time and p.i.t.a. Another route to get one is to go look at old F-600/ F700 and possibly bigger stocktrucks/dumptrucks/buses. Some of them have what is called a 389 which is not important because the oil pan is the same. They are a full sump flat square looking pan. You may want to do a thread search in here on this topic as pertainging to putting baffles in those pans.

If running a FT pan it would be a good idea to add a 2" wide lip angled down 30 degrees around the sides, rear and front of the pan plus a windage tray. This will prevent oil from slamming the rear cylinders and crank. Aggressive driving requires aggressive prevention like rear sump pickup. This is what I have done on the 410.
