4.6L V8 on 2000 F150 Engine not work when it rains!

New to forum, so I hope I am posting this in the right place. Every it time it rains the service engine light comes on and truck jolts as if engine is misfiring. After weather clears everything improves. The mechanic says it is because the plugs are mounted straight up on this engine and water seeps into the sparkplugs instead of draining off. This sounds utterly stupid because how could water seep into something that must be sealed airtight. ANy suggestions? It is raining a lot this year in Southern California.

Well, this is the 4.2 V6 section, not the 4.6 V8 section, but maybe someone can help you out here anyways! Actually, I have heard of the V8's having 'plug problems' before that sounded like that.

Welcome to FTE! Glad you found us!
Actually you posted in the 4.2 forum - one forum down from the 4.6/5.4 V8 forum.
I'll bounce it up there and maybe somebody can help you out.
