Hi Guys,
I have been reading this forum for over a year or so and today is actually my first need to post. I actually work on vehicles for a living and there is one thing no one can answer for me; my suppliers or locally - where is the cabin air filter on a 2002 F-150 Supercrew? And no, its not under the passenger side dash.... at least on any 1997-2003 F-150's I have ever seen.

We change cabin air filters on all sorts of vehicles and I have never located it on the 97+ F-150's. Most manuals, computers, etc say its under the RH dash but there is no hole in the evaporator case for the filter to go into. I have the filters in stock and can't find a place to put them. I have always driven 97+ F-150's and with my 02 I would really like to put a cabin filter in it. Anyone have any ideas on this one? Location, special kit needed in install filter?? Anything??

Your F-150 does not come equipped with a cabin air filter, and one was never available as a factory installed option. Ford once offered a filter and an installation kit for this gen F-150 through the parts dept., but discontinued it a few years ago.

 

Yes, the kit is no longer available. I think I bought the last one in the world about 3 years ago for my then new 2001. I found it on eBay, from a company that specializes in buying old dealer stock.

I believe all these trucks can accomodate the filter, and it is located above the passenger footwell. The kit included a guide for cutting the housing (using a razor knife)and mounting and cover plates.

 

ford has this deal out now for $35 you get an oil change, rotate tires, top off fluids, inspect hoses, belt, and new cabin filters

 

That's IF you have an existing cabin filter to replace!

You don't happen to know where the slot had to be cut at do you? There is a little indention in the bottom of the evaporator case under the RH dash that looks basically like you just cut it out and in the filter goes... but I'm not for sure. If so, all I have to do is cut the slot, insert the filter, and then get a piece of plastic and make a door with self tapping screws.

Does anyone know anywhere I can buy one of these cabin air filter kits?
