Clear coat removal

Hi, I am switching doors on my van. The donor doors are rust free, never been hit, and the paint is fine. The problem is the clear coat is pealing. Can I use something to take the rest of it off, or should I take all the paint off. And where can I buy whatever I should use? The doors are from an 89. My van is a 90, but my doors are dented and rusted. Thanks for any help.

i would sand them down. now the ?? is are you repainting them? if so you have to strip it down to metal. So you have to ways to do it get a paint striper and go to town or sand it down. I would use 320 sand paper because its less work to make it paint ready. it will take a little longer to sand but quicker to make it paint ready. if not use some 160 sand paper to make it quicker. fromt there you would need to use a sealer of some type and then a good primer and then on to your base coat and fallow with the clear. you can get the stuff from a automotive paint store .

I was going to use an epoxy primer. Is this good on bare metal? Thanks for your help.
