81 F-100 distributor vacuum line
I have an 81 F-100 with a 302 with a Holley four barrel and a single vacuum line distributor. I currently have the distributor vacuum advance line coming off the vacuum tap on the carburator. It's been a while since I installed the Holley, but I think that the vacuum tap was specificully for the distributor vacuum advance. When I was setting the ign timing yesterday, I noticed that there is no vacuum coming from the tap on the carb until the throttle is opened. Is this the best place for the vacuum advance to be connected, or should it be connected directly to a manifold vacuum tap?

I personally prefer to see the vacuum line connected to ported vacuum such as you have rather than direct manifold vacuum but alot depends on the carb you are running and timing and cams. If it is not a fully modified engine and basically stock you should be fine but once you have installed a larger carb, cam, etc, you may be happier with a direct line.
