I have a 300 6 cylinder we just installed in a 1981 F100. Everything was apart when we got it and I really don't know where to connnect the vacuum line from the distributor. Does it make a difference if I connect it to one of the lines on the carb or the manifold? What exactly does the vacuum advance do?
The vacuum line is usually hooked up to the distributor. The emissions diagram on the top of the core support should show the correct routing.
The purpose of the vauum advance is to advance the distributor timing at idle and low hrottle conditions. under heavy loads the vacuum will drop and the distributor will retrard to prevent detonation (spark knock)
