Angry dash problem

Hello all, I am new to here.
I have a 93 F-150 2wd reg cab with a 302.
The gas tank selector switch has become detached from the dash and has receided back into the dash so I have to poke my finger in the whole to switch tanks.
If I could figure out how to get the headlight switch off I could take the dash cap off and use some jb weld or something to put the switch back on the dash.
But that is eaiser said than done, I can figure out how to the the light switch off.
Anyone have this problem, and what my options for a fix?
thanks
ben

The benzel (the black trim that covers the cluster and that little switch is attached to, but now behind) comes off.

Pop out the two plastic strips on either side of the steering column, and expose one screw on each side - remove those with a torx (sorry, I forget what side, 7mm sounds right). Then push a bent paperclip into the little notch of the headlight switch ****, and hold the metal tab down and slide it off the switch. Then gently, yet firmly pull the benzel off the main part of the dashboard. its easier to pull from the top. Do not pry it off because you will "dent" the softer dash material behind the benzel. Pull it off, and work it over the steering column, exposing the wires.

Hopefully, if you're lucky, one of the two screws holding the tank selector switch backed out and fell out - if so, replace it. If both screws are there, and a piece of plastic came off, you're going to have to glue it back on and clamp it until dry. Don't clamp too hard, just enough to hold the switch still.

Then reassemble.

Ben, it may be easier to remove the black dash bezel, there are 2 pieces about 8 inches in length on either side of the steering wheel that can be removed with a small straight screwdriver, then remove the 2 screws that hold the piece on, I believe the are #7 in metric, then apply the parking brake, turn your key on but not to starting position, then move the shifter all the way down to 1st gear, it is easier to remove the bezel that way, it just pulls out, the light **** just pulls off, pull the lights out as far as possible, and you will see a triangle piece that goes arund the light rod, either pull off the **** or use a small screwdriver to pry that triangle piece back, that should get you to where you have enough working room to get to the fuel switch. I dont know much about how to fix the switch itself, you may be able to put some black silicone on it, depending on how you want it to look, or jus go to a junk yard and get a whole new dash bezel, if you have anymore questions, feel free to pm me--Dinty01

lol, just DON'T use super glue to hold it in place....the glue kind of 'burns' the plastic and looks horrible.
