removing smog pump

Stop, put the tools down, and walk away. The computer uses sensors to determine how well the engine is workin. It needs all the parts to work well and by removing the smog pump you will just run into more problems than it would ever be worth. Besides some states have laws against that. Not mine hehehe. Just leave it there. There is no reason to get rid of it. If you don't want all that crap just buy an older truck. I have an 80 and I have no emissions stuff except a charcoal box, but only because it makes a great foot rest while I'm workin under the hood.

Just polish it up and the tuner kids will think it's a turbo. Just kidding, but it can be made to look like something with some paint or polishing. If you're trying to clean things up mechanically, if it's still working I'd leave it there. I've removed the before on v-belt systems, but it causes routing issues with a serpentine drive and you'd need a custom length belt.
