93 Aerostar power window problem. Can anyone help?
I recently had the power window on the passenger side quit working. Whether you tried to operate it from either side, it would go down, but not up. It had become a little slower than the left side, so I assumed it was the window motor. I bought a new one and installed it, using instructions that I read on this site. Much to my regret, the new motor does the same thing. I guessed that it might be the switch, but it's the same problem, whether I try to operate it from either side. It goes down, but not up. held the motor in my hand while toggling the switches, same thing. Now I'm not so sure it is a switch, since it does the same thing from either side.
I went out and bought a multimeter today. I have a basic understanding of electricity, but I don't know how these switches are wired up. I wouldn't want to short anything out or rip into something unnescessarily, like I think I may have done with the motor. I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems and if someone would be able to tell me how to check it out.

In the upper left corner of the picture in this link is somewhat of a wiring schematic.

Most Ford window motors work with two wires. The switch reverses the positive and ground to make the motor go forwards and backwards. Your door locks work the same way.
Make two long test leads, with 15 amp ATO fuses near the battery clip, for both the (+) and (-). Put a toggle switch in the red wire for "on". Hook it to the motor connectors with power from teh battery. Flip on. Goes one way. Switch off. Switch wires around. Flip on. Goes the other way.
If the door switch is new, most likely the connector under the hood is bad. In most Fords you have two connections for the wiring harness that goes from driver's door to pass. door. One inside the driver's fender, the other one on the pass. side under the hood. The latter goes first because it is exposed to road salt, vibration, and heat from the engine.
