460 crank 429 pistons ?

is it possible to use 460 crank and rods with 429 scj 11.3 pistons? . if not is it possible to get different rods ? i broke my 429 crank and i have a new 460 crank that i am thinking of using , the pistons asre forged alum so i would like to reuse them. dove heads and 560 lift cam if u need to now.,

Best bang for the buck I can think of off the top of my head would be to purchase a SCAT crank. They should have what you are looking for is stock. Plus the price isn't over the top.

oooops , they saw you coming or they know nothing

You could special order shorter aluminum rods ... but that would lessen your stroke /rod ratio ... a good 429 crank will give you great revs for racing ....

and oh the rods from a 460 will work for the 429. rod lenght between th e2 is the same. the compression hieght and the stroke on the crank r what set the 429 and 460 apart .. only thing

yes , the rods are interchangeable ...but the cranks and pistons are not interchangeable .... crank must = piston type ...

the only thing different between the 429 and 460 is the stroke. It would have been my assumption that the crank was not the same for the different stroke and that the connecting rods were longer to reach the top of the cylinder, but from this post the connecting rods are the same, but the pistons are longer to make up the height differance, correct?

yes u r correct. the compression height or distance from the top of the piston to the center of the rist pin r different between the 429 and 460. the rods r the same lengh. and the crank is a different stroke. if i remember correctly the compression distance on the 429 is greater then the 460 so if u used 429 pistons on a 460 crank they would be shoved into the head preventing the crank from moving and on the same token if u used 460 pistons on the 429 crank the pistons would never reach TDC. so in other words when ur rebuilding 1 of these motors make sure u know which is which.they made both the 429 and 460 for several years but.
