rear window frame cracked

Hi, I have a 2002 explorer xlt with the option of the rear window opening by itself. The metal frame on the bottom of the window just cracked vertically completely through about six inches from the right side looking at it from the back.

Has anyone else had this happen to them or know of any recalls?

Thanks
Deekon

Are you talking about the trim piece with the Ford emblem on it? If so, see the post "Rear Lift Window Problems" by nmu67 a couple of pages back. BTW, I think that piece is plastic, not metal.

thanks, those other threads sound like the same problem. The vehicle is in WV now and I am in TX so I was just going by description.
She is going to take it to a dealer in WV to see what they will do.

Good luck - if it's still under warranty, she should be OK. If not, then she may have to use her "feminine persuasion" to get something done; you could also e-mail her these posts to show the dealer it's not an isolated occurence.

Deekon -

Was wondering how you made out with that liftgate trim repair?

The explorer is still in WV. She took it to the dealer down there and they said it was not under warrenty. I think she is going to call the ford 800 number.
For now we won't get it fixed until she gets back here in texas.

Hopefully, everyone who's had this problem will rattle Ford's cage about it. If it's out of warranty it probably won't help, but it sure can't hurt!
