sas are real easy on all the ifs fords. 80 up f150 you can bolt in a 79 coil sprung dana 44. dana 44 in a leaf sprung truck is a little complicated but take any 80 to 96 f250 drop the ifs out and a dana 60 from 80 to 97 will bolt in. alot cheaper and easier than the kits. i've even converted a few 2 wheel drives to 4x4 using 79 front axle 9 inch rear all the springs from the 79 and a divorced case from a highboy. 302 with the right gears has power to drive but thats about it.

I live 70 miles north just outside of Watertown .I have 1992 flareside 5.8 4x4
with 112,000 miles I bought it in 1998 and is the best truck I've ever owned.
Did a few mod superchip,km breather,excel coil,bosch quad fire plugs.Just started having an issue with a cold start problem when outside temps drop around 20 degress ,when I turn key to on position the fuel pump turns on and
doesnt shut off and truck will not start.I've cleaaned the iac and replace the tps
sensor and replaced the coolant temp sensor.When outside temp raises about 20 degrees and I turn key to on position the fuel pump will engage for 2 sec and truck will start.When the truck starts it runs fine and their are no codes.Could I
Have a fuel relay sticking.And if so if fuel pump is not shutting down on start can this stop the injectors from firing nad preventing truck from starting.Being from ny I'am hoping someone else has had same issue before and can give me some advice.

oh =) hey all its been a while since ive been on this board but im glad to be back...but enough of my babbling ill get to the point
dave here in utica about 50 miles east of ya if im not mistaken... i drive a 92 f150 old mans 2wd but i do have a 79 f150 2wd in the yard its my dads and i cant make up my mind whether i want to keep it and fix it or what ...it is bad off ...the bed is trashed the bearings are whooped in the motor and the steering box is sloppy and there is a clanking from underneath that could be either u joints or something inside the rearend which i have never screwed with rearend gears b4
ill have to do some more thinking i'd like to put a wooden bed on the back ,rebuild the 302 and run dual exaust out the back but im not sure if ive got the knowhow and the patience to build myself a decent old timer....what id really like is a 4x4 70's model to lift and have as a toy but im not even going near the concept of a 2wd to 4x4 conversion
