Smile Hi guy's regarding your chapter......

We need to start thinking about electing a new Leader inorder to help this chapter to continue to grow . I see that there are several very active members here that might be good canidates for this position, please keep in mind that you can do this online or offline or both, which ever will work for all the members.

I'm going to ask if Jeff can help guide chapter this through the selection process, unfortunately Jeff is unable to lead this group due to his other duties here on FTE helping other members buy great Ford products at Van Bartel Ford.

So lets start moving this chapter forward onto greater things that Ny is well known for...hmmm beer soaked hot dogs....

Ray, would it be possible for you or Jeff to post up what is involved with becoming and being the Chapter leader? It would help to know so that anyone that may be interested would know what is envolved and how much time is needed. There are several of us that would like to see the NY Chapter grow, but have other commitments and obligations that might not allow us to devote the time needed to do the job justice. Thanks.

I just post this in the N.Cal forum in response to the same question being asked.

Well fellas to be a CL (chapter leader) you need to be a member for at least a year (or close to it we do have a fudge factor here) and have a fair amount of good posts under your belt, have a positive image in your fello members eyes. Now for the hard part, you need to be able to maintain contact online to help promote growth of the chapter and be responsive to questions members they may have.

Be able to help with getting a couple of G2G's (get 2 gethers) going to meet with other FTE'ers ,Traveling is not required but encouraged but that is up to you the CL. Help promote growth of FTE. It is mainly a online position but the more you can put into it the more you and the members will get out of it.

Keep in mind that this is a group effort.

all I can say is try to keep things interesting and membership will grow.

Even though I'm the overall Moderator of the chapters, I use a hands off approach to things because every region is differant, just as long as the FTE guidlines are followed, no ones gonna nit pick the leader.

There more to this but that basic idea for ya, maybe a few other leaders will drop inn and add there comments.

There is a good thread in the general discussion with a lot of good info for you all .
Heres the link for it .

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=296418

If theres anything i can be of help with just PM me.

Gotta go now I gots some mason jars with some funny smellin clear liquid to put away...

Ray, could you check the link you posted. It sends me to a thread for favorite camping areas. I did a search on chapter leader, but there were several posts that came up and most unrelated to what you were referring to. Thanks.

Thanks Ray. That one works and links to several valuable threads. Hopefully others will take a look and we can get things moving along.

I realize I'm not to active in the Chapter but I'm up for helping in any way I can. Was actually thinking alot about hosting a G2G. I live in Binghamton, not a great town but it's just about in the center of the state. Let me know what to do if you have ideas.

Wow!! I go away for a couple of days and things sure change!! I just saw about Jeff not selling Fords anymore so I am assuming he will not be helping us on getting a new Chapter Leader. Ray I would be willing to help in this process and I am sure I could others like bterry, Jdenninger, and krewat to help out. Let me know what the plans are and what you would like me to do.

I haven't heard of the 'Firehouse Resturant' but you're probably talking about the 'Number 5 Resturant' or prehaps the 'Fireside Bar and Grill.' They're both still here, Number 5 is pretty close to down town built in the old Fifth Ward Fire House. Pretty fancy place, best known locally for picking up wealthy divorcies. The Fireside is a kinda dumpy local bar about 15 miles outside of town. I've good times at both - as I'm a proponent of good times at every place I can find. If you ever get back out this way, I'll escort you to both!

Barr - why don't we go ahead and and plan a G2G. You said you were thinking about doing one anyhow so why don't we do it. Let me know what your thoughts are and we can go from there. I figure we just need to start doing some things to get the ball rolling.

First I think we need a group of people to work on it. If it's just you and I great, if a couple others want to help, even better IMO.

Second we need to be able to get the masses aware of what were working on. Over 4,000 NY members, but I'd bet not many read the chapter forum. Not sure how to accomplish this. Might need to get a Leader first.

Third, we would need to find out where to have it, or at least what part of the state. That may have a big impact on attendance, and what we could do. I was thinking of starting a poll. The poll could go for say 1 month, and the place with the most votes gets it. Give say 5 or 6 citys to choose from.

I was thinking of one or more of the following ideas for things to do:
Camping, off-road trails, Dyno, Drag racing, evening cruise, some sort of bbq (pig roast) maybe... I think I could pull off all of the above here, depending....

Some of those ideas would obviously require a substantial commitment of attendance. But depending on what people want to do, it wouldn't be that hard to do.

I also thought of having a couple small ones first, at different parts of the state. That would help gather momentum, but often are not so great due to poor showing. Maybe you could have one out your way, me here, and maybe somebody from downstate could host a small one too. Once we see how that goes, plan a big one in the fall.

Just ideas, kind of a brain stormin' thing. Maybe we should start a new thread for ideas.

Ray - I have a couple of questions.

I am sure you have seen the post that we are trying to get Ang (cowlady) back online with her computer and that she would like to still be the CL. Will she be able to?

Are people that subscribe to the NY Chapter are they automatically enrolled?

Regardless of the CL issue we are moving forward with G2G's and have those happen. Thanks for the help and I am sure we will be asking more questions as we move along.
