Howdy....
I have been looking into lowering the front of my 2004. Already lowered the rear via shackle. I like allot of rake on my trucks and now it sits way too level for me with the shackle. (Too SUV- like for my tastes).
Called a very reputable truck suspension place here in Houston (Cutten Customs) today and they told me that if my front wheels stick out at all (which they do) that I would have rubbing problems lowering it what they call the "correct way". That being the 2.5" DJM Control Arm replacements. That control arm leaves all the rest of your steering components OE. (Stock spring, stock shock etc). Cutten Customs has dropped approx 30 2004/2005 F-150's with no issues.
Well as most of you know Ford really hung that front wheel hub out there for all to see and by doing that we are basically forced to run a wheel offset that is for the most part that of a front wheel drive car. The overwhelming majority of 6x135 wheels (new F-150 bolt pattern) sport a 35mm offset. In case you don't know that is already a large positive offset. Even with that offset my 20x8.5 wheels "do" stick out about 1/2". I'm not crazy about it but I have a plan for fender flares to address that.
Anyway has anyone here lowered the front of your truck? If so by what means, and what wheel offset do you run?
Lastly....how much travel do you feel you have in the front after the lowering?

Supercab, have you lowered your truck yet? This is the way I plan to lower mine and I'm interested in knowing how you like the results. I spoke to DJM yesterday and they didn't mention any problems with rubbing with the 2 1/2" arms, did say there may be some problems with the 3 1/2" arms. From my research this is the better choice of lowering the front verses coil springs. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used either.

Centerline has a 20x8.5 wheel with 6" backspace that may work for you. It is the Crossfire #150 2858 652.
