military hummer tires

Well i finally tried out my new tires. 4 used goodyear wrangler mt millitary tires 36 12.5 16.5. They actually did pretty good on my bronco but the road manners suck. I got them for from the local military base they were refitting hummers to go over to Iraq and had to change all the tires that were less than 75% tread. Now i got something a little better than my bfgs and best of all they were free. Sorry about the long post just figured i would share with every body

those tires are pretty easy to come by, there is a guy here in okc that sells em for 35-45 bucks, but he wont mount em, he only mounts semi truck tires....but just about any military instillation will either hand em out or sell em cheap at their auctions.....they dont like having tires without the little nipples still on em.......must be rough...... ive talked to a couple people that run em and they said the same thing, they work good in the mud but arent very forgiving on the road, plus they arent all that for rock crawling, the rubber is too stiff cause they are made to last a long time.....

I had used michelin tires they drove awsome on the road. offroad they were ok. but they were dry rotted out. had 4 of them blow out on me. now I have iroks and they have sooooo much more traction there is no comparison.

Yeah i have 2 sets of the older Wrangler RT II's (36x12.5x16.5) used them twice in the pits then went and bought some 35" boggers, them tires were to hard to be any good.

I mud alot in an old junk yard so soft tires get cut up real quick. These tires seem to hold upo pretty good because they are so hard.

Damn....I wonder if they are doing this everywhere? There are quite a few bases in San Antonio. I might have to make them fit.
