My brother does the warranty work for a local Ford dealer and put a leather seat cover on a 04 King Ranch today because of splitting seams.

Leather Seat Problems

I have had a similar problem with an 02 Lariat when it was just two months old. I took it back to the dealer, they agreed to replace the leather seat bottom. When the new one came in, they said it was unsatisfactory. They then ordered a new cushion and new leather seat upholstery. That replacement has been on ever since and still looks good to this day.

My original seat bottom started to come unstitched. The dealer agreed to fix it. They did. The guy that took the seat out to fix it did'nt pay any attention to the door resting open against something. The door edge had paint gone. Then when the seat had to go back in
he missed, and scraped up the back door with the seat mount. The cover needs replacement again. When it was first installed it had a small scrape in the finish. Now the scrape is turning into a sizeable path of bare leather. I can only wonder how much body work will be required next time.

They did, but only after answering to allegations by the manager that perhaps I did the damage.

04 Leather problems

Yes I am have leather problems too. At 8000 miles took it in for unusual wearing on drivers seat bottom and seat back. The area rep will be in next week to determine what course of action they will take. I want seat skins replaced, we will see.

I think Ford has cut corners on the quality of the leather used in the Lariat seats. The so called tan color (more like light beige) is a magnet for any kind of dirt, it will pull the blue right out of you blue jeans...$36K should have used better leather!

I have too clean the front seats a MINIMUM of twice a week to keep them looking good.

I had a 97 Expedition, had the drivers side changed 3X under warranty, no questions asked, they just did it!

I would agree with it having cheap leather. The leather is kind of rough and hard....not very soft. Like you said, for 35K you would think you would get better leather.

I thought the 01-03 supercrew leather was softer and better quality. The dealer acted dumb when I said that. My driver's seat(tan leather) looks dirty and I've only had the truck for 10 days. How should I go about cleaning it? I used some Mequires leather stuff on them last week.

Leather cleaning

I use Prestine Clean and Rejuvinator Oil from Leatherique. Web Site is
www.leatherique.org. I have been using these products on my vehicles (00 Honda Accord EX and 95 Mazda Miata) leather interiors since 2000 and I have found nothing better.

I'm really amazed at how the seats turn blue from jeans. I use Mequires cleaner/conditioner and it does remove the blue.. Mine are wrinkling also but I figured they would being stretched just sitting on them. I'm due for an oil change and I'll have the dealer look at them.. Thanks..

Cool Where did the padding go??

I too am not very pleased that after 6000 kms the bottoms of both frt buckets are almost flat and leather loose. It's not that I'm overweight (6"1", 195lbs). I will be bringing this and numerous other items about the truck to my dealer's attention after hunting season is over. So far I am not very impressed with the new F150.
