BW SXE Turbo

Here's the turbo I chose to put on my truck. I figured it should get me down the road a little quicker than the 38R did. Anyhow, I chose an sxe472 and I've included some pictures of the pipes and the turbo as well. I'm still waiting on my down pipe and flange bolt, the 5.5x4 intake reducer hose & an intercooler hose that I should receive come Thursday.

Look at the size of that thing! Also, if I remember correctly you are running 300/200 injectors?

Yes I am, 300/200 injectors with supporting mods. It should move out pretty good. Yes it is big. I had it mounted in my truck last weekend, when I figured out that I didn't have the right down pipe. Prior to the turbo install, I cleaned the fire wall and cowl & I installed some extra 1/2 thick sound and heat barrier from the top of the cowl above where the turbo sits, down the fire wall to the top of the transmission tunnel. Well, when I had the turbo installed, it was actually touching the heat barrier on the cowl right above the turbo. I'll see if I can find a picture and post it up. Well, I thought I had a picture showing the turbo installed and how close it sits to the top, but I don't. This is the heat & sound barrier I installed then the turbo. But again, I decided to remove the turbo for now until I receive down pipe. then I'll go ahead and reinstall.

Nice, the ole 7.3 can sure spool a big turbo. What are you expecting the driveability to be like?

From everything I've read, the people I've spoken with, and the 1or 2 videos you can find on youtube, this turbo should have great street manners and be a pleasure to drive. I might even be able to tow with it as well. Again from my research and conversations with others that have ran this turbo it runs great as a single. It spools very similar to a 38r. The advantage I have in my favor for running this turbo, is the cam and ported polished heads which should really help it to breath down low, and spool hard in the mid-high range. I do know that in a tow scenario I'm really gonna have keep my eye on it. But heck it's no different from the 38r I've been running for 16 yrs. I tried to find info on this turbo on 7.3's, but people never post back on threads they start, or keep up with videos and so on. I hope to change all that. I have a friend in Florida who ran one on his 7.3 and he really liked it. Josh took off a 38r and installed this exact turbo with I think 200/100 injectors and he said he couldn't really tell any difference on how the 2 spooled down low. Anyhow, lets see how it performs. I've built it as a hot street truck, not a tow rig. I have an 03/7.3 that I use to tow/DD, and on my time off we take off in the wifes Excursion. So with all humility I say, I kinda got my cake too.. Thank you Jesus!

Like to here more when you start driving it. Good luck. Should burn the tires right off with those injectors.

I rode in it with the 38r and I think I left a stain in the passenger seat. Sorry Carlos, hopefully it shampooed out.

I got the heat and sound barrier from Amazon. It's called Second Skin Mega Block. And the tape you see is from Design Engineering. It comes in 2"w x 30" rolls.

Let us know how the 372 is.
I plan on either getting that, a 369 or a 467.7 when i go 250/200
