Question 65 F100 in cab fuel tank

I am thinking of pulling the in-cab fuel tank out of my 65 and running a tool box/gas tank in the bed. I don't plan on hauling much, so the space I give up is no big deal. Has anybody else out there removed their tanks from the cab???

Was it worth the effort, what did you gain besides room for stereo speakers?

Thanks,

There are a couple pix in my gallery showing a tank relocation. Main benefit was removal of gas fumes away from the driver's door/seat. Also, space for lug wrench and a few other items. I guess there would be a minor benefit in moving center of gravity aft. I researched a toolbox-conversion option, and found it too costly for my budget. There is a slimline aluminum diamond plate toolbox on the 'net. 12" front-to-back, as I recall.
