The other morning i started my 2000 ranger xlt with the heat on, and i could actually hear the fan itself. It's a low frequency hum between the firewall and the dash. The higher i put the fan on, the louder it is. This happens on all settings... defrost, a/c, feet only, etc. Is this something i should be concerned about?
Is this something new? Did it just start making the noise? My guess is the fan shaft bearing is failing. I wouldn't worry about it until it fails, unless the noise is intolerable. It could be something as simple as the screws are loose, and it is vibrating. Keep us posted.
yes, this is something new as of about 4 days ago. The noise is not intolerable, but is kind of loud when on high. I'd like to get at it to take a look but can't find an easily accessible location. Any one ever experienced this before?
