Angry What was ford thinking. (92-96) Dash.

I'm having a REAL hard time figuring out how to get this radio out, The previous owner has a real old Alpline that has a hard time reading CD's and I get so mad at it on the road I want to punch it. I'm trying to remove it to put in one of my JVC's but I can't figure out how to get at it. I droped the clove box, and started loosining the bolts to the main dash pad but the one/two bolts above the radio are VERY hard to get at and I don't even know if I have to go through all of this to get the radio out in the first place. On top of that the haynes manuel dosn't really tell you crap on 92-96 dash's, its all older style, which is a ton easier..

HELP!

-Mike

go to Autozone and pay less than $3 bucks for a tool that will extract the stereo for you. No panels to remove at all.

Your talking about the Stock Ford Radio removal tools? I have those, but what are they going to do for an Alpine headunit?

Most of those head units have a sleeve that goes in first. You bend it's little tabs up and down to hold it in place. Then the head unit slides in and locks in place. Most of those have removable face plates. Some don't. Take it off if you can. Then take off the plastic trim piece that is around the face. You should be able to see the metal sleeve that's holding the Head Unit. On the left and right sides, you should see two slots, slide a thin piece of metal into the holes on both sides (the hu's come with keys, but I doubt you have the ones for the particular unit) . The unit should just slide out.

the tabs were the problem..had to sqweeze a screwdriver in there to get em bent flat in order to remove. The Alpine is out, Found stock harness, but it seems that some wires were cut and rewired!!! I hate when this happens.

I can get my radio out (JVC) in 30 seconds...duno why you're havin so much trouble. It does have a trim plate over the front of the deck that's gotta be removed. Then you slide your radio's tool between the side of the radio and the side of the opening, hook it in and slide it out

it's the Alpine he's trying to get out not the JVC. probably rigged in there improperly. but it's out now according to his latest post

Isn't removing a JVC the same as an alpine? Just a different version of the "L" removing tool....?

I was always under the impression that removing them was the same. Aftermarket radios usually are very simple to get out, shouldn't have to take anything off the normal dash assembly. As for the pop when you switch from one track to another... I'd guess something in your CD player is causing that. When listening to the radio, try going station to station and see if the pop is still there. If it is, it's probaby in your speakers, if not I'd narrow it down to the CD player in the head unit.

i had a alpine deck in my 95 and it MADE ME SO MAD so i got a new deck.

but when i take my deck out i just pull on it and take the deck holder thing
and the deck out, But once it wouldent come out and i dident want to brake a
deck that cost 200+ so i poped the swiches for the AC and stuff off and poped
my hand right under the deck and pushed.
