Info on GVW and GCWR's for F250 and F350
Could someone please tell me the difference between the GVW and GCWR's for F250 and F350 or where I could find some info on them. I have been searching but am not finding what I want. This would be for the 04 models. I have heard that the difference is only a few hundred pounds since the F350 weights more but would like a more concrete answer. Trying to find out if I am legal pulling my toyhauler. Thanks

First, are looking for towing/weights on a 04 Dual Rear Wheel, Crew Cab, Super cab ect.. Long bed/Short bed?? If you can nail down a truck configuration, I have the info. right here.. And it would save some listing time.. You also can pick up a 04 truck brochure, (nice to just have handy) or even 05 to see the difference in the 'new' towing/hauling increased capacities.. Going by your signature vehicle, the max 'tag' weight is 12,500 limited through the hitch.. Fifth wheel towing 12,700.. (05 is much higher at 15,400/23,000 CGVWR but still a 12,500 tag/hitch weight restriction)..04 F350 has the same tag/fifth weights and combined CGVWR of 20,000 as the 250, but will take a payload increase of 'roughly' a 1000lbs but the numbers change some with camper/payload packages and of course short/long bed combo's..
What is the weight of your loaded trailer?

Wanting to compare the 04 Crew Cab Single Rear wheel, 4x4 short bed 250 - 350's. Also with the 3.73 gears. Does that help. I will look for a brochure. I believe my trailer is 12000 max weight. I think I probably pull it at around 10k though. Not a ton of stuff in the back. I want to take it and have it weighed though. Anyone know the proper sequence to have it weighed so I can figure out the axle and tongue weights?

You could sit here and try to "figure" till the cows come home. What you need to do is load EVERYTHING you normally take (people, food, beer, tools, first aid kit, etc.) then drive straight to the filling station and top off all the tanks. From here go straight to the scales and without removeing anything get weights for the:
1) front truck axle only
2) both truck axles only
3)all axle truck and trailer
4) rear trailer axle only (assuming 2 axle trailer)
Now find your door sticker get GVWR (likely 8,800 or 8,600) and GCVWR (20,000).
Get axle ratings for front and rear axle.
Get ratings for trailer axles (you know max is 12,000)
First make sure #3 is less than GCVWR.
Next make sure #2 is less than GVWR.
Next make sure #4 is less than trailer axle rating.
Now the fun begins. Subtract #2 from #3 then subtract #4 (this is the front trailer axle weight) make sure it is below the trailer axle rating.
Next make sure #1 is less than the front truck axle rating.
Subtract #1 from #2 make sure it is less than the rear axle rating.
I am assuming that this is a tag along with a weight distributing hitch.
I did not calculate for trailer weight alone since it is not really going to limit you.
Now you know if you are legal and can "figure" from there.
