i have a b2 87 4x4 2.9 auto my question is what does the egr valve do and if i were to take it off what damage might come from it??? i have no emissions here in miami and i know it's againist federal law to mess with it . what pros and cons might i expect i have seen 88-90 b2 with no egr valve why how come what diiference ??

 

You won't get any performance but you could get pinging.

The exhaust gas helps to cool the cumbustion gases and the ECU programing is epecting it. Can't say for sure you'll have a problem.

Ford did away with the egr valve in my 88, 2.9. The computer code is tweaked tighter to get around it. I know they help clean up the air, but I think they gum up, and help shorten the life of the motor. I am all for clean air, but they need cleaner fuel.
