Sloppy Steering 89 F150 4X4

Hello,

I have a 1989 F150 4X4, 302, with 143K mi. on it. The steering wheel has "play" or "slop" in it. The tie rod ends, ball joints, etc. all look good. Front end alignment was just done with no problems to any of those components reported. Am I looking at a steering box problem? Any help or insight into this problem would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Terross and welcome to FTE

Also check the shaft from the steering column to the steering box. The slip yoke maybe be worn out.
