Powerstroke vs Duramax (who makes them?)

Who makes the ford diesels, does ford actually design / make the diesels?
I am leaning towards yes, because they have made tractors and have had some diesels around for a while, and does chevy make their own duramax engine?

Oh and by the way, the comparisson for diesels are Ford vs Duramax, dodge isnt even considered a real diesel in my opinion, it's not a Dodge engine, it's a cummins! Make your own engine dodge then I will consider you!

Could I please get lots of expert opinions here from people that are sure they know the answer, or if ford / chevy bough block designs from others?

Im pretty sure they did make their own diesels because the older ones were kinda weak.....

Hate to burst your bubble but Ford and GM don't make there own diesels either. The PSD was designed by International, and the D-MAX is an Isuzu design. Welcome to FTE, you will find that there are many very knowledgable people on this site who can answer just about any question you can think up.

Sorry, Ford and Chevy don't make their own diesels.

The basic Ford Powerstroke engine is built by International and then Ford adds other components and their computer stategy. The Chevy Duramax is built by Izuzu (sp), but I'm not sure to what extent.

I'm pretty sure you'll get more extensive feedback in the morning when people in the eastern and central states wake-up and are able to respond.

I think Cat designed the injection system on the 7.3s but I'm not 100% on that.

yes central time is awake.

The 6.0L is a Navistar/International VT365 with Ford PCM and FICM. It was around for a couple years before Ford used it for the F250-550 line of trucks. It is the same engine as the International 4200 series and more trucks.

The Duramax was designed, engineered, and produced in Dayto Ohio. By a joint GM Isuzu venture. GM owns Isuzu
