What is the Gauge Metal on a 56?

I know it's 8am, ( sorry) When I go to the Sheetmetal guy and ask for Patch Panel material, what gauge do I need to ask for?

Thanks

I used 16 gauge on a couple of butt weld spots on my 55 and it matched with no problems. I never actually measured the old panels.

I've been using 18 guage for the body patches - when I get a chance to mess with it - seems to match up okay but I've never actually measured it.

My measuring has concluded that the metal on my 56 is 16 gauge.

56 F100: 16 guage (.063) thick on cab and fenders. 14 guage (.070) for the bed walls.

Just got a new lincoln mig. I got a small peice of 22 gauge, just to practice on.
I don't think that 22 gauge was ment to be Fluxed cored miged. Going to get Gas today

thanks

I also just got a Lincoln "Handy MIG" unit. They said that flux core was best for 16 guage and up and that MIG wire welding was for the thinner guages.
