What did a new one cost

Finally got my pictures loaded to the gallery last nignt. Since I'm getting close to the end of this project I figured it was time to see what it's cost me. I've saved reciepts from the get go so am confident I'll be real close when I get a total. But that got me wondering what did a new 53, 54 or 55
cost back then? Anyone got any old invoices ?

I have the original receipt for my '53 F-100 that shows it was purchased new for $1200 from Henner Ford in Chicago, IL on February 13, 1954.

cost?

Thanks for the kind word. it's taken a while but was well worth it.
Kevin: that's about what I figued a new one was. The pickup truck market wasn,t all that strong back then, most probably went to farms with a few for deliveries, the oil fields, mines etc.:

54 -- $1200

My Grandfather paid $1200 for a 6 cyl. '54 f-100 with no options. Not even a radio. We have the receipt. He used it for 18 years, gave it to my father who used it for 27 years. I've had it for the last 5. It has 80,000 miles. Original engine. Never re-built. Run's good. Leaks oil. Original keys.

No to the GM, it's a 2003 chrysler Graphite Mist. Picked it cause it looked good on the the Dodge's "little fenders" figured it would look real good on real fenders.

Thanks Vern, You know since I got it painted, gass milage is up 25%, the A.C. puts out cooler air and damned if it doesn't sound better too. Real truth is I'm very happy with it I 've got a smile you can't fit through a 2 car garage door.

Funny how even a car wash improves the running of my truck too.

I got the receipt for my '54 F-100. My Grandfather bought it on December 22, 1954. The truck is a standard cab (one sunvisor, door lock on pasenger side only, no chrome on vents and divider bar, etc). It is a V-8 with a recirculating heater, electric wipers, but no rear bumper. The bill of sale says the cost was $1648. I think he got taken, that late in the year. Car dealers were just like they are today: They gave Grandpa exactly $648 for his 1947 Ford pickup as a trade in which brought his bill to exactly $1000!!!! plus tax and title transfer!
