AOD No Reverse When Hot?!?!

AOD No Reverse When Hot?!?!
I have a 93 F-150 with the 302, 101K miles. The other day I went and got in the truck and backed out of the drive way and drove it to town (about 10 miles). I pulled up in the parking lot and took a movie back and got right back in the truck. No reverse, but just a few min's ago I backed out of the drive way with no trouble. Drove it home and changed the filter and fluid wich did not look bad. No parts in pan. Filled it back up and cranked it up and it worked fine since it was cold. Drove it around the block and came back home and did not want to reverse. But this time it would go back but had to rev motor up to get it to move. All forward gears are working with no trouble. This is out of the blue no warning. Does this sould like something simple or do I need a rebuild? If I need to rebuild I was pricing trannys from the local auto parts store and they have them for $750. Does this sound about right? But it was asking if I have a 10" or 11" tall bell. Is there anywhere that will tell me on the truck? Thanks for any info you may have to share!

I'm hoping mine hasn't. It only does it when its hot and been driven for 30 mins to an hour. Dropping it off Tuesday morning at trans shop. They think it may be a servo bad, but could be worst. Fluid is bright red, and smells fine. Nothing bigger than dust in the pan, so I don't know why it happened all of a sudden..
The guy who replaced the valve body last year was even confused as to it, since he drove it and never a problem, but that was 8 or 9000 miles ago.

Exactly Stuart1.
I resurrected this thread as a reminder that not everyone gets a "Timely" reply or the posters problem never got an answer. This usually results in a new member getting the cold shoulder and never visiting or posting again. He may got the problem fixed or not. Perhaps others have visted this same thread Hoping for an answer or some other pertinent information. Unfortunately, I have no expertise in transmissions except for changing fluid and not to run fluid low or overheat them.
I do thank Mark for the few minutes it took him to read and reply. He knows transmissions well and his experience anywhere at a shop would cost us many $$$. I do just hope it isn't the reverse band that has failed and its under a $150 repair. I can get a used AOD for $250 that's rebuilt or $100 for a used one that has 67,000 miles. I'll post an update to this if the problem is found or not.
