shorty headers 56 effie

Has anyone put a set of Ford shorty headers from a 5.0 Mustang on a 56 F100? (that's the 302 version) I know the passenger side should fit, I'm concerned about the steering box on the drivers side? I'd like to find out if they fit before shelling out my hard earned cash. Any recommendations?

I'll be interested in the replies as well. I have the same question regarding my '55 with a 302 and a Mustang II rack. Looks like the original manifolds will work but I'd rather have headers.

55fordlover, I liked the way the headers fit your 54. (I checked out the gallery) By the way, very nice truck! They appear to be shorty headers also. I'm going to have to check these headers out. Do you have a part # by any chance?

Yes, Hooker makes a set of block huggers for a 289 or 302 that the collector goes straight down, they work great on my 56. Lots of room. The collector is longer than the chevy's shortys, but the same style. Check out "metime"

Scott, I thought the hooker headers or block huggers hit the straight axle that goes directly underneath the engine? Maybe I'm wrong! Also. I heard the collector is long and won't work with the truck lowered in the front. The shorties from ford seem to go at a slant versus directly down. I love the hooker headers if they fit. Are you running a stock front end?

I've also seen that the Sanderson FF2 headers will work well.

I'm currently running the straight axle, and have rearranged the springs to lower the truck 2". I had the collector cut and a 45 added and reinstalled when I had the exhaust installed. It looks good, their working great and I get alot of inquires on who made them. I've run them for two years, no clearance prob., they are a good investment. I'm currently in the process of installing the Aerostar front sub frame, alot of good info. comes from you'll. If I can help in anyway let me know.
Scott P.S. did you get rid of the valve covers your truck came with, the ribbed ones?

I tried running MAC shorty headers for 79-93 Mustang but the driver side hit the steering column. This was with a 351W, so with a 302 it may work since the blocks are a little skinnier.

I am using Sanderson FF2 headers and they work like a charm!
