cheap fix for cracked bell housing

I couldn't really find a home for this thread so I'll try it here.

I discovered my C4 trans bellhousing has 2 cracks in it. One is an alignment hole (no big deal) to the engine and one is threaded for the starter. It must have been that way for awhile, and I've had no problems from it, but since it is out of the truck I wonder what I can do short of taking it someplace to have it welded to temp fix this.

if you have a c4 tranny, remove the bellhousing and find another to replace it with. lots of tranny shops will sell you one. salvage yards will sell them also.

welding sounds good but I'm too cheap (broke). upon further inspection what had been done is to just put a bolt thru and a nut on the back, it worked before its gonna stay that way, thanks!
