I'm having a problem with my '02 Explorer. Right at 2500 rpm it starts pinging (i think). Only happens for about the first 15 mins until hot. Kick's in right at the same point, 2500 rpm under a consistent acceleration.

Dealer was no help. He said unless you have the radio off and the windows up, you can hardly hear it. HA.

Any help!

 

If it was my truck, I would go back to them and demand they fix it. Having dealt with pinging issues on my '94 for quite a while, you don't want to just "live with it." If they won't do anything, take it to a different dealer. Another option is to call Ford Customer Service at 1-800-392-3673 and voice your concerns. When I approached them concerning some warranty issues with my 2000 ZX2 and a dealer in my area, they were very helpful. When you talk to them, be polite and you'll probably get where you want to go. Remember you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
