The gas SD's are offering a $2500 rebate or 0% financing for 36 months!

I've spent spent the last 3 weeks running trailers for a freinds shop going back and forth. my V10 crew 3.73 4aod tranny 4x4 and his 03 duramax with the allison tranny 4x4, I'm unshure of the gearing. Towing any thing from bummper pull aluminium stock trailers to 45 ' LQ's with each. Hills, Back roads, and Highway, (DC beltway).
I have to say the allison tranny rocks! awsome control, haven't felt that in control without a stick ever. The duamax is stock so I like the v 10 off the line, no waiting for the turbo to spool.
at 6'1" and 200lbs. I like the Ford Crew cab over the Chevy more space for me and each has capt. chairs. although the chevy is well layed out.
On back to back runs with comparable trailers out and empty back mileage was better with the d.max, BUT only by .5 miles over th same 100 mile +/- run. Same, traffic conditions, weather, speeds, tolls, stops and each filled at the same gas station. and the same heavy footed fool at the wheel.
Only difference, d.max is dually and geared lower than 3.73. My F350 is SRW
I like the 3.73 for the highway and Have not felt as if it has ever held the V10 back and rolls nicely with the 10,000# to 13,000# I tow personaly. I find myself kicking it out of OD. as a form of down shifting after adjusting to the allison.
I found the d.max seams to spends alot of time at 3000rpm with me (redline about 3300) the v10 also spends alot of time around 3000 rpm
Each truck is a powerhouse in its own right and could pull a house of its foundation. I like my v10, personal preferance, But that tranny would get me thinking if I could get comfortable in the chevy. It is a big truck but I feel squished in the driver seat.
I'm not to hot on the chevy IFS. made the truck feel like my Isuzu Rodeo (IFS torsion bar) in the front
Just my observations and How I have tried to interpet them and compare
