Rear doors won't open from inside
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Nov-02 AT 12:44 PM (EST)]The grease gets washed out of the door latches and they won't open. Squirt lots of oil in them and gently work the handles about 30 times. They will loosen up. The handle operates a thin wire and if it meets any resistace just bends. Of course some people, when something doesn't work, just apply more pressure and break the plastic teeth on the door handles. I heard these are less than $10 each.

Likely it's what OperaHouse describes above with the broken latches. I've had to replace two, one on my '91 and one on my '95. Exact same latches and about $10 at the dealer. I think they were broken by my kids trying to open the rear doors when they are locked. They just keep pulling harder until the cheesy plastic break. They really aren't very strong. Takes about 20 minutes to replace. Remove the door panel. Take out the old handle with a couple of screws. Hook the rod to the new handle. Install the new handle and replace the door panel. I replaced one of mine in the parking lot of the dealership since I already had the panel and handle removed.
