I'm only getting 11.7 MPG!!!
Ok, I've only had my truck for less than a week. There's about 250 miles on it. It's a 5.4L, 2WD, w/ 3.73 LS, I also swapped out the factory 18" and put on some 20" wheels. I've been pretty easy on the gas, and it's been mostly city driving.
Will my MPG get better as the engine breaks in? Or does this sound like an issue to bring up to the dealer?

Possible reason for poor mileage

Did you have your speedometer/odometer changed to compensate for the larger wheels? You could be travelling further than you think. Idling also is a big consumer of fuel.

I'm hoping after I change the oil at 1000 miles, I'll see improved gas mileage. I figure that will be enough time for the engine to break in.
I did not get speedometer/odometer changed. I was under the impression that with 20'' wheels, there isn't a need. Only when you go up to 22", or add 35" tires. I did go about 80MPH for a good stretch on the freeway though.
So you guys trust the on board computer to tell you your MPG, or do you do it manually?

Wheels
It doesnt matter what size wheel you have, its the diameter of the tire. If you get one size larger tire, your speedometer will read faster than your actually going, which will give you a different reading. Does anyone know if you can calibrate the ford motor by reprogramming the tire, or do you need to change out a chip..

These trucks get good mileage (16 or so) if you are light on acceleration in traffic. I usually don't go over 2000 rpms, meaning enough throttle pressure to use that as a shift point. Of course there are those moments where you just have to mash it. I limit those to two or three per tank and I get 15-16 mpg.
