Do you see two small holes about 2" apart on each side of the factory unit? If so, go to the local auto parts store and pick up the Ford removal tool. It is 2 peices of metal that look like a "U". Just lide those into the holes and pull. The radio "should" pop right out.
Yep that will work, any automotive store or stereo store and even wal-mart will have the tools you need to get it out. Those years were easy to replace.
Get the tool, I've tried the homebrew method of sticking wires and allen wrenches in the holes. It just doesn't work well enough to get the tabs to release. I will be buying the tool myself.
In a pinch about the only thing i have found that will work and about the right size is a coat hanger. I cut a couple pieces of the straight area and have made them work. The proper tool is better and they are cheap.
