Glove Box Question (how mundane!)

I know this probably ranks right up there as one of the most boring questions asked, but is the glove box on everyone else's 2001 F150 a little heavy on the spring return?? The spring on mine is so tight that the normal un-latched position of the glove box door is all the way up, even with a pile of papers and the owners manual in there; I have to pull the thing down to get it open. This is one of those "no big deal" type of issues that still manages to pester me at 11 o'clock at night when I'm trying to go to sleep.

Second question would be, if this isn't normal, how easy would it be to get the spring out of there?

Kinda normal. My position is slightly open (about 2 inches) Never given it any thought.

That sounds like a tight set of springs. I've taken my '01 F-150 glovebox cover off a few times (looking for a squeak), and the spring is in the hinges. They don't seem to be easily modified, and they are a pain to put back on (need 3 hands). IF you want your door to stay open, how about leaving a weight on the open door overnight a few times. Maybe a big book or tool would train the springs to settle down a little?

Sounds like something I'll just leave well enough alone as-is.. Thanks for the feedback!

My gripe with the glove box, is the size. It's so SMALL!

I mean this is a full size pickup, and my old Toyota Tercal has a bigger one.

They need to CHANGE this in my opinion.

They have... Gotta spend 30 grand to upgrade though.

I have removed a number of these boxes over the years and the spring is just plain and simply a monster. I like the new one, no spring at all.
