A mixed bag of Chips! Help.

I really want to put a chip in my truck sometime this summer, BUT...

1) I don't know what I want or need.
2) I don't want to void my warrenty!!!
3) I still would like to be able to tow a big load when needed.
4) I'm not sure if the 4 inch exhaust, K&N filter and the X-Monitor gauges are all I need to move on the next step.

If any of you fine fokes could give me some in depth info. and advise you would be saving me from certain spontainious Chip eating-- I mean purchasing.

Thanks,
Will-

A mixed bag of Chips! Help.

I have the Western Diesel Quad chip. I have 3 different power settings including the stock program. I also have the 3 guage pod with EGT,Boost,Trans temp. I also have the ATS 4in Catback exhaust. I was told that the stock air filters are more than enough for the PSD. He also said that the K&N air filters are junk cause they give the oil a high silicon content. I highly recomend any chip from western Diesel. i leave my truck on 50hp all the time and it just hails ***. With the quad chip you can also change the program from when your towing to when you just wanna blast around and kill dodges. Its the Best of Both Worlds.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Dec-02 AT 08:17 PM (EST)]Changing settings is just a twist of a know in my dash. For the chip installed, with the 3 guage pod installed it was $1200 I did not bother to install it myself. Cause I do not have time to do it.

A mixed bag of Chips! Help.

Consider the Diablo Delta chip. Truly has more than one program, not a one program chip with a set of resisters to change the fuel output ... be careful of multi-setting chips that don't have more than one program because its a compromise.

Also, with a chip, the keeping a stock air filter will contribute to higher EGTs. Any better flowing filter will lower EGTs (more fuel=higher EGTs, more air=lower EGTs). There's the cotton type (K&N, AFE, etc.) and then there's the oversized paper elements. Both have their fans.

Listen to Ken he knows what hes talking about. As far as the Diablo goes, the Diablo programs are awesome. I had a 78 first but then went to a 110HP. Awesome shifts, good response and fuel economy. I dont have delta, but the main program is the same. Its a good chip.

Oh... couldn't remember the paper element name last night. Its the Tymar. We don't carry them but they're good systems, we talked to them about 2 months ago about carrying them but with the holidays its been hard to find free time. Only disadvantage is you have to replace that huge filter on a regular basis.

I already have a K&N filter in the stock air box. Will that do well enough or would I need to change to something different.

Second do you sell that chip on this site? Oh, and what about the Ford Warrenty am I at risk of lossing it just by adding a chip?

Thanks, Ken you've been a big help.
