Thumbs down 100,000 Mile Jitters

Just curious if you guys have the same feeling I have about hitting the 100,000 mile mark? With the warranty being up at that point, I just gringe at the thought of seeing the odometer turn into a working 6 didget number. My PSD hasn't give me any trouble since I bought it with 91,000 miles on it, but you just never know when something will fail. With my run of luck lately, probably will have a major engine malfunction before long. Hope not...Have 1,700 miles to go and then it's How do you guys feel about this or dose it not bother you?

I'm getting ready for the big 100K myself and if this vehicle treats me like it has since new, I have no worries. It has been an exceptional truck/engine combo and I really am having 2nd thoughts about going for a new '05. I have done all my own service work,ie: lube, oil and filters. Ford did a auto trans extract and refill at 52K and a cooling system fluid change out at 35K and again at 52K. Probably didn't need the one at 52K, but we were heading out on a long vacation and we pull a 12,800 lb 5th wheel RV. My unit is an F250 SC, '01 year. We have had the best of luck with this setup and hope to have the same, if we go for the '05.

I bought my 01 new. I just rolled 92,000 miles, and am not worried one bit. Of course, my warranty has essientially been void since I put the first chip in it at 12,000. I've been prepared to provide my own warranty for a long time. Luckily, I've never even had to attempt to get any warranty work done. Knock on wood.

I have the HyperTech PPIII in mine since 12K and have 2 warranty issues taken care of and nothing was said about having PPIII in or out.

That's cool. You got lucky and found a good dealer. All three of the dealers within 45 miles of me juct chuckled and rolled their collective eyes when I inquired about the warranty status on chipped trucks.

If nothing has happened by now, it probably never will. Just keep up with the maintenance and it should last well into the 300,000+ mile range. However, if you are curious about the actual wear on the engine, take an oil sample. I get mine done through Blackstone labs. Just send them an e-mail and they will send you a sample bottle and instructions. The cost is $20 and you get the results in a week or so. I know there are other labs out there that may be cheaper, but I like the format that Blackstone labs uses.
