Thanks for the quick reply John, but i was hoping someone might tell me that a particular later model f100 brake pedal / booster/mc assembly may be suitable.
I am in australia and was hoping someone could tell me a later model f100 was suitable for donor parts, as they are a mirror image dash and firewall between aussie and american effies.
Scott.

well then
Sorry Scott...
I'd just take a measurement from the dash support brace back to the firewall and then make a trip to the salvage yard. How good are the salvage yards down there anyway ???
I would think that any 60-80 pedal set would fit with minimal modifications... little welding and hammerin' but hey ,, we love that kind of stuff..
someone will be along shortly with the right answer I'm sure... you might want to repost with a more descriptive title and catch someones eye..
sometimes we tend to gloss over a 'newby with a question' post but a subjuct like 'which brake pedal/booster will fit '53" will get a quicker response..
gud luck

Scott, I am building a 1955 F100 with the 302V8 & a C4 auto.
I used the pedal & mounting bracket from a 1990 Ford Mustang and the booster from a 1987 to 1993 Ford Mustang. These both fit nicely with just some minor grinding of some mounting tabs & drilling a few new mounting holes. I bought the Mustang master cylinder too, but decided not to use it since the plumbing comes out toward the engine ( you may even have less room than me).
I bought a master cylinder from a 1993 Ford Ranger pick-up, which will work on front disc & rear drum. I don't know if you can get the Ranger with 4 wheel disc, but I know some Mustang & Explorers come with 4 wheel disc brakes. Let me know if you need more info.

For dash mounted boosters, you will need to reinforce the dash sheet metal. I used a couple 3/16" straps welded into the natural 1"vertical grooves than a heavy plate welded to the straps. That will support the booster, but you will need to support a pedal assembly with a brace from the attachment bolts to a couple places along the bottom flange of the lower instrument panel. My booster and pedal were from a late model Explorer. Rear disc on a 9" are also from an Explorer kit sold by Ford Motorsport.

Gidday mate, if you're looking for any info on firewall mounted brake kits, check out www.classicperform.com . They have kits but are a bit pricey, but still check them out. U want to put the whoa in the go. Good luck.

We heated the pedal arm and bent it to clear the steering column. An extension was welded on the pedal arm to compensate for what length was lost in the bend. Actually we cut the arm and put the extension in the middle. Grind a deep chamfer on each piece to form a "V" to get the best weld penetration possible. Make the pedal long enough to be comfortable and easy to reach in a panic stop.

Hi guys , thanks for the replys they are all good info and much apreciated.
At this stage i am unsure what to use, the mustang gear could be the way to go, but may be pricey to get the parts down here in Australia.I think i will have to grab a tape measure and do some scrounging around the wrecking yards to see what i can come up with. In the long run it would be in my own interests to buy something available locally, so in the future i know spares would be readily available.
Thank you all for your input.
Scott.
