Wanted: 3.73 ratio on F350 PSD Dually

Ford doesn't seem to offer a 3.73 rear end ratio for a F350 dually. I'm really wanting dual rear wheels for the peace of mind with the load I'm carrying (15K 5th wheel), but I don't want the 4.10 ratio. I currently have an F250 with a 3.73 and it pulls the load fine, but I'd feel better with having more tire on the back to help spread the load. Any suggestions?

Ben

You might want to check this again. My 2001 RV & Trailer Towing Guide (page 19) indicates both the 3.73 and the 4.10 are available with the F350 DRW.

Crewzer is correct. 3.73 is standard, and 4.10 is optional.

Guess I should have been more specific. I can't seem to locate anywhere on the Ford website (even at the "Build a Vehicle" section) where you can buy a F350 PSD Crew Cab DRW with a 3.73 ratio. Seems the Crew Cab only is available in a 4.10.

I've not found the Ford site to always be accurate.

Check with Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com), Edmunds (www.edmunds.com) or your dealer about the availability of the 4.10 option -- RPO XF2 -- which is LS, by the way...

I ordered my F-350 crew cab/dually with a V-10 and 3.73 rear. It tows great and I get between 11.5 and 12.5 (usually closer to the lower figure) w/o trailer. It's a 2000.

You can get a new dually with 3.73's. You cannot get a new dually with 3.73 limited slip. You have to go with the 4.10's to get limited slip.

I don't think I'd want the limited slip anyway. My brother has that on his 2000 F350DRW and when he first starts moving it "pops" and vibrates. Ford hasn't found a solution other than changing the rear end fluid

I ordered my F350 dually with the 3.73 gears, like they said, it isn't limited slip.

I just bought a 2001 F350 dually diesel with a 3.73 without the limited slip. and all the truck does is spin on any frost, damp grass. called my dealer today about getting a limited slip, don't know if its possible or not and the cost is unkown, anyone know anything about this. Thank You

Nodak,

After you get a price from the dealer check with a local 4WD shop about an aftermarket Auburn, TracLoc, or Eaton limited slip. A lot of people complain about the Ford limited slip being wimpy, and I'm one of them. I would think a 4WD shop could put in a better limited slip for less money than the dealer.
