OBD II Code, P1400
Can anyone help me out with this fault code. I know what the code says on the scanner. But what and where is the DPFE? And is it the same thing as the EGR valve?
Any assistance, would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, forgot to include which engine. It's the V10.

DPFE is a backpressure valve used in the EGR system. there 2 hoses connected to it from the EGR tube coming from the exhaust manifold and this tube connects to the EGR VALVE. Do you know where the EGR valve is? It is normally mounted to the intake or plenum , the DPFE is rectangular in shape , has the 2 mentioned hoses and a electrical plug connecter. You did not give the year of this vehicle, is this possibly a warranty issue? Let us know and good luck.

Thanks for the clarification. The year is a 1999, with 60,000 miles on it. I previosly got a P0401 code, so I removed the EGR itself to see if there was any carbon build-up. I cleaned it as best I could. I replaced it. Then cleared the code with the scanner. I went almost a month without any codes coming back. Then yesterday, the check engine light appeared, I scanned it and got the P1400 code. I recognize the piece that you are talking about. But, every parts place I have been to, does not list this piece at all. I guess if I had the part number I could order it that way.
Thanks

Had the code P0401 too on my 99 v-10(96,000mi), I pulled vacume on the EGR Valve and it was working fine. Dealer says that they sometimes replace 3 DPFE sensors a day. The new sensor looks different than the old one. Supposedly after the 99 model year they updated the sensor. I haven't seen the SES light since. (about 5,000mi). The sensor was around $50 at the dealer, I installed it and they cleared the code for free. Good luck
