New here/ 3.0L?

Just bought my first ranger and I must say that I love the truck. I have spent lots of time researching various topics on this site and find the imformation very helpful. Just woundering does my 3.0L have a timing belt or chain? I am currently assuming that it has a timing chain. Also is it an interference motor?

Congrats on the new truck!

If you are concerned about it, then you can relax. Your 3.0L has a timing chain, and it will last as long as your engine does...failure is quite rare.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but......

The timing chain in the wifes Aerostar ('93 3.0) went at about 110k miles!
Took out the bottom of the Aluminum timing chain cover also. I agree, they don't let go too often, but when they do, look out.
Actually was a good weekend job. Me and Samuel Adams had a blast taking the front of that engine apart!
