Should I pull the trigger on a 6.0?

Should I pull the trigger on a 6.0?
I am new to the forum but have been a huge Ford fan (thanks dad) my whole life. I've only ever had a gas but I am going to look at a 2007 F-250 4x4 6.0 with 158k miles. The only upgrades listed are to the suspension with after market wheels. I have done tons of research and the seems to be a split between horror stories and die hard love for the engines. I have a pre negotiated price of $9.5k and that is a ridiculous price for a desiel with that low of mileage. I just want to know, will this be a truck I can raise my kids in, or am I gonna spend every weekend trying to fix it? I did all the the mechanical work to my 5.4 Triton, but there is a huge difference between working on a gas vs diesel engine.

Go to the 6.0 forum and read "buying a used 6.0" thread in the tech notes. There are a lot of things that need to be checked out to make sure you're not buying someone else's problems.
6.0s did have a lot of problems, but then again the 6.4 was a dud out of the box and the 6.7 had problems in the early years.
There are still thousands of 6.0s out there still running stock or pretty close to stock with just a few minor mods.
