78 E350 RV electric choke

I have a 78 E350 16ft RV with a 300Cid 6cyl and 1bbl carb. It had an electric choke and a heat tube that was not hooked up. I had hooked up the heat tube and it worked okay but the electric wire had no place to hook to.

Well the choke spring broke and I tried to put on a manual choke cable. It sucked. I have now got another electric choke and wish to hook it up. The parts guy said to hook up to a wire that comes on when the ignition is turned one.

I need piece of mind on this as my wife will be using this a lot by herself.

What wire is the best for this. Any help? THIA

Eric

There is a wire coming off of the starter relay and goes to the hot or positive side of the coil, just graft it in there.

You may also want to look around the carb for a plug with no wire connected as it may already be wired for the electric choke.

Already did that...the guy I bought the Rv from had put a new carb on and it was set up with the electric choke but no wire for it to hook to.

Thanks again,

It may have had a vacuum controlled choke from the factory. I had an E350 w/351W that was set up that way.. It worked good as long as the pull-off was in good shape... Seeing as how you already have the new electric one, just hook it up as I stated earlier.
