Engine Roar

Lately my 5.4 has started to roar at around 2000rpm. Maybe roar isn't the best description it soulds more like the soud you used to get when you opened up a big 4-bbl carb. It didn't used to do this though. Any ideas?

i wouldnt say that has anything to do with being serviced or not, but maybe your just hearing the intake. i woulndt think only a k&n would bring out this noise that much. does it do it at crusin speeds? or jsut when you punch it?

A bad clutch fan will produce a roar sound.

Chk the clutch fan ,by seeing if it will spin with a little resistance when engine is shut off.
If it moves with alot of force then its bad.
