Does anyone know if I can take roller lifters out of a 5.0 HO and use them with the spider plate in a 1970 302 block, with little or no modifications to the block? Some one told me that the lifters will fit right in place but I am afraid that the rollers are larger than the factory Hydraulic lifters that came in the engine. any help I will be greatfull. Thanks

 

I know the lifter valley has to be drilled to use the spider plate and i think some machining has to be done around the lifter bores.

 

and you need harder pushrods

 

If you use the ford stock roller lifters you need a small base circle cam when using a non roller. You can not use the ford stock roller cam and roller lifters in a non roller block. The lifter bores are to short for that combo. I think some one makes a specail roller lifter for use with a stock ford roller cam in a non roller block.
